Aim & Scope
Human-centric perception and understanding have been a long-standing focus of the computer vision and machine learning communities. It involves a wide range of research tasks and applications, such as person re-identification (ReID) in surveillance, human parsing and pose estimation in the metaverse, and pedestrian detection in autonomous driving. In the past decades, we have witnessed the success of using Convolutional Neural Network and Transformer based methods for tackling these tasks. On the other aspects, there are still many unresolved challenges in human-centric perception and understanding, e.g., Person ReID in low-light conditions, pedestrian detection in crowded scenarios.
In this special session, we invite researchers to contribute original research papers devoted to innovative methods and novel applications of using neural networks for human-centric perception and understanding.
Topics include but are not limited to:
l Person re-identification
l Human parsing and pose estimation
l Pedestrian detection in the wild
l Text and image-based cross-modality person search
l Human behavior analysis
l Human action recognition
l Person tracking across different cameras
l Person counting in crowd scenarios
l Human–object interaction video recognition
l Human centered environmental perception and recognition

Paper Submission
IEEE WCCI 2024 adopts EDAS as the submission system, available at the following link: https://edas.info/N31614. Papers submitted to this Special Session are reviewed according to the same rules as the submissions to the regular sessions of IEEE WCCI 2024. Authors who submit papers to this session are invited to select “IJCNN Special Session: Neural Network-Based Methods for Human-Centric Perception and Understanding”.
Submissions to regular and special sessions follow identical format, instructions, deadlines and procedures of the other papers. For further information and news, please refer to the WCCI 2024 website: https://2024.ieeewcci.org/)
